Frequently Asked Questions

I know starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions— it's completely normal! Here are some common questions I get asked to help you feel more confident and informed.

How often are our sessions?

Weekly sessions are essential to provide the support needed for the deep work of somatic therapy. Sessions are 50 minutes long, and as we progress, we can explore whether meeting less frequently might still meet your goals.

What can I expect from our sessions?

Our work together will focus on deep, long-lasting healing. In our sessions, we’ll draw on a variety of somatic techniques, including EMDR, Mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing. You can learn more about the unique role each plays in your healing process in the pages linked above.

This work is highly experiential, emphasizing in-session work rather than assignments or “homework.” The techniques we use in each session are tailored to your unique needs; every session is guided by what’s most helpful in the moment.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance to prioritize your confidentiality and keep the focus on your healing, free from insurance limitations. To keep service accessible, I do have the following options:

Sliding Scale spots are available —please contact me if you believe you qualify.

If you have a PPO plan, I can provide a receipt of service (known as a Superbill) for potential reimbursement. Please be aware that reimbursement depends on your insurer’s out-of-network policy and isn’t guaranteed. I recommend checking with your insurance provider beforehand to confirm out-of-network benefits.

How much does therapy cost?

Each 50-minute therapy session, offered in-person or via telehealth, is $250, with payment due before each session.

This rate reflects my experience, market standards, and ongoing education to provide the best care possible. Sliding scale rates are available—please contact me if you believe you qualify.

Do you offer in-person or virtual therapy sessions?

I offer in-person and virtual therapy sessions so you can choose what feels most comfortable and accessible for your needs. Whether you value the convenience of virtual sessions or the connection of in-person visits, I’m here to support you.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under federal law, healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy, to patients who either do not have insurance or are not using insurance.

You are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy, upon request or before scheduling the service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. Be sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website at http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
